With more than 20 unique habitats and 800 species of animals to view, as well as a schedule of exciting animal-themed activities throughout the day, there’s a fun attraction for every visitor. Just inside the entrance, you can see acclaimed Gorilla Kingdom exhibit. Observe the gorillas and monkeys eating, playing, and interacting in a lush simulated rainforest. Continue on the Tiger Territory, a recently updated habitat that mimics the natural environment of the Sumatran tiger. Crossing over into Africa, see giraffes, African hunting dogs, and zebra from the elevated viewing platform. Don’t miss the slow and sinister komodo dragon in its lair or the giant Galapagos tortoise, the giant species hailing from the islands where Darwin researched his theory of evolution. Darwin enthusiasts will enjoy a visit to Blackburn Pavilion to hear more about the finches used in the ground-breaking study by Darwin and John Gould. Whatever route you take, carve out some quality time for Penguin Beach. Home to around 200 Macaroni and Humboldt penguins, this vibrant exhibit includes a pool with underwater viewing areas and a demonstration area to view live feedings.
